SANTRIMENARA.COM, JAKARTA – Google Inc has removed Palestine from its map, a Web-based service which is used by Netizen to search detailed information about geographical regions around the world.
As the consequence, The PBNU (Indonesia’s largest Islamic organization) chairman Said Aqil Siraj protests against it. “If Palestine is not marked, we will resist,” Said Aqil Siraj said in Jakarta, on Thursday (11/8/2016)
The alumnus of a University in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, also demands Google to mark back Palestine on map because it has been recognized by United Nations. “It must be marked back to the area,” he said.
Helmy Faisal, The general secretary of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) also regrets the removal of Palestine from Google Maps. “We will send a protest note to Google Indonesia,” Helmy said.
That outlook is asserted because Palestine is a sovereign state as same as other states in the world. If Palestine is removed, Israel is more feasible to be removed from this earth.
Don’t let Palestine history disappear if only because Google Inc commits displeasure, as the disappearance of some NU figures in the independence struggle.
According to Kiai Said, the history of NU in some academic books had been removed because of deceiving certain parties, such as the disappearance of Harun, a person who put a bomb on the car of Mallaby (British commander). He passed away on November 1945. Harun, according to Kiai Said is a NU figure who disappeared from the captured history. (smc-212/ translate-443)
